STAAR, the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, is a standardized test designed to evaluate students' grasp and application of knowledge and skills outlined in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for each grade, subject, and course. Aligned directly with the current TEKS, STAAR aims to measure academic achievement comprehensively.
The primary purpose of STAAR is twofold. Firstly, it ensures that Texas students remain competitive on both national and international academic platforms.
Secondly, it serves as a crucial tool for assessing the effectiveness of schools and teachers in preparing students academically.
Additionally, STAAR fulfils the federal Every Student Succeeds Act's requirements, mandating assessments for students in specific grades and subjects throughout their academic journey.

STAAR Assessment Framework
STAAR encompasses online assessments in mathematics, reading language arts (RLA), science, and social studies for students in grades 3–8, including high school. Spanish-language online tests are also available for students in grades 3–5.
